Ananjan is a founding partner of the firm. He graduated from Calcutta University with a Bachelor in Arts in 1990 and from the University of London with a Bachelor in Laws in 1993 and was admitted to the West Bengal Bar Council in 1993. Ananjan is also qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and enrolled with the Law Society of England and Wales since 1998.
Ananjan began his legal career in 1993 as a counsel at the Calcutta bar and has appeared and argued cases before the High Court, Company law Board and other forums and has reported judgments to his name. Ananjan developed extensive experience in corporate commercial transactions and disputes across a spectrum of industry sectors and currently specialises in the marine, aviation and insurance practice of the firm. ALMT Legal has been named winner of India Business Law Journal’s Indian Law Firm Awards 2010 in the category ‘Aviation, shipping and maritime’.
Ananjan’s articles have been published in the Financial World, (Publication of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London), PLC Law, the Calcutta Law Times and the International Law Office, Aviation publications. Ananjan has presented papers at the annual conferences of the International Bar Association at Amsterdam, the Inter Pacific Bar Association at Hong Kong, the Air and Space Law Conference at NALSAR, Hyderabad IATA’s Legal Symposium in Istanbul and Beaumont International Aviation Conference in London. Ananjan has been voted as a leading Aviation lawyer by Who’s Who Legal, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

- Advised London Underwriters on a claim arising out of Aircraft Hull and Spares insurance policy by India’s largest private airline.
- Advised International Air Transport Association (IATA) in relation to insurance guarantees from Indian travel agents.
- Advised Asian Airline on tariff issues in India arising out of EU antitrust proceedings.
- Advised UK based insurance brokers in a dispute relating to projects in India involving foreign and domestic promoters and lenders, government and government authorities. The dispute covers more than one jurisdiction.
- Advised Norwegian P&I Club on charterparty dispute involving several jurisdictions.
- Advised UK P&I Club on claims.
- Acted for Global charterer in arrest of vessel and obtaining security for breach of time charterparty.
- Advised shipowner on enforceability of foreign arbitration award.
- Advised shipowner on enforceability of lien on cargo for charterhire.
- Advised charterer on ownership of shares in a ship.
- Advised on ship arrest regime under Indian law and the possibility of arrest of ships under Indian oil rig contracts.
- Advised and acted for global container company on recovery proceedings arising under container leasing agreements.
- Advised and acted for global oil company in arbitration proceedings against Indian public sector oil company for disputes arising under agreement for supply of crude oil.
- Advised US transport company on liability arising on multimodal transport operations.
- Advised Singapore logistics company on maintainability of arrest of a tug for disputes arising under TOWCON charterparty.
